Jennifer West

Jennifer West works at StopWaste in Alameda County, supporting local governments engaged with energy efficiency programs to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. She works across the county, with the East Bay Energy Watch (Alameda and Contra Costa Counties) as an administrator, and with BayREN on a regional 9 county scale. She served the city of Emeryville as a city-council member (from 2009 to 2014) and as mayor in 2012. Prior to StopWaste she worked on housing and transportation for TransForm’s GreenTRIP program. She also taught elementary school for 13 years in San Lorenzo Unified and at NOCCS in Oakland. She rides her cargo bike or takes the bus most days to do her part to reduce GHGs. She holds a BA from Wesleyan University, majoring in East Asian Studies and Japanese, and a Masters of Public Policy from the Goldman School of Public Policy at UC Berkeley, 2012.
